The trauma hospital treats nearly 9,000 animals each year. At the heart of the Arizona Humane Society is AHS' Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital, the largest shelter-based trauma hospital in the Southwest. AHS' field operations team employs thirteen animal cruelty investigators/Emergency Animal Medical Technicians (EAMTs) who respond to more than 11,000 animal rescues and suspected cases of animal cruelty each year.
